My Story
I help leaders and their teams navigate complexity, grow in self-awareness, and build the skills and wisdom that enable them, and those around them, to flourish.
Leadership is a privilege. It can also be a lonely and challenging path especially in the complex world we all now live in.
My clients are diverse, but they have one thing in common: a deep commitment to becoming the best they can be for the people they lead. I learn from them every day. It’s a privilege to witness the insight and courage that emerge when people let go of habits and assumptions that no longer serve them and embrace new ways of thinking and being. I believe remarkable things happen when a space is held for powerful conversations, reflection and growth.
I began my career in the UK, spending over a decade as a Chartered Accountant in a Big-4 firm, advising clients in high-pressure environments. Those years taught me first-hand about what enables and derails high-performing leaders and teams.
Later I moved into organisational transformation, leading system-wide change initiatives in the UK, NZ and globally - including projects in the US, Europe, South America, China and Japan. These experiences placed me at the heart of some groundbreaking culture change and leadership development initiatives, working alongside leading-edge practitioners and academics. They also deepened my love of working across cultures and building results through diverse teams.
Whilst I am grateful for those boardrooms and global projects, I’ve come to see that some of my deepest learning came earlier - before the suits and spreadsheets.
In my early twenties I travelled the world, taking on a string of very unglamorous jobs to fund my adventures: pulling pints, scrubbing bathrooms, washing dishes, serving ice creams, picking fruit, telemarketing, driving tractors and serving dodgy kebabs to drunks and cabbies on the midnight shift. I was terrible at some of these jobs. I loathed a few. But they taught me things I still carry today about humility, humour, curiosity and how everyone has a story.
Hearing people’s stories, and helping them step up to their next chapter, is one of the reasons why I love what I do.
Coaching leaders and their teams allows me to bring together my commercial experience, human insight, and a deeply-rooted belief in what’s possible when people grow, not just in skills, but in wisdom.
